Artists Against AIDS: Reimagined

"Save the Date: March 22nd and 23rd. Artists Against AIDS 30 years". written on a tan background with tye dye artistic embellishments

The Greater Community AIDS Project (GCAP) is excited to announce the reimagined comeback of our popular Artists Against AIDS event!

Artists Against AIDS exhibits were held from 1993 – 2013 as an annual community fundraiser to benefit the critical work of GCAP. To rebuild this annual tradition, GCAP hopes to produce a juried art show that reflects the diversity of the local art scene, generates enthusiasm, and reminds this community that GCAP is still here and continuing to empower those living with HIV.

The event will take place at the UCIMC: Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center (202 S. Broadway, Urbana) on Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23.

Participants, Jurors, and Committee Members involved with Artists Against AIDS are expected to embrace the mission and values set forth by the Greater Community AIDS Project of East Central Illinois (GCAP). Please read and agree to uphold the below:

Misson: The mission of the Greater Community AIDS Project of East Central Illinois is to empower members of our community living with HIV to live healthy and fulfilling lives, to eliminate the transmission of HIV through education and advocacy, and to support those living with HIV/AIDS in the form of transitional housing, emergency financial assistance, nutritional assistance and peer support.

Values: Greater Community AIDS Project of East Central Illinois is a Housing First facility that values harm reduction, anti-racism, health equity, education and advocacy.
